Meet Your Coach
Introducing Cathy Charles
Cathy: School Counselor, Yoga Educator & Mental Health Empowerment Advocate
Cathy, a dedicated educator and wellness practitioner, hails from Cleveland, Ohio and brings over two decades of experience as a high school counselor. Throughout her career, Cathy has guided students through the challenges of academic life, mental health, and personal growth. During the COVID-19 lockdown, she took a transformative turn inward, exploring her own mental health through yoga and mindfulness practices. What began as a personal journey soon became a professional calling.
This deepened curiosity led Cathy to pursue certification as a yoga instructor, launching a second career that blends mental health counseling with the somatic benefits of yoga. She now holds over 800 hours of specialized yoga and meditation training, integrating these tools into her work with students, student-athletes, educators, and communities committed to holistic health—including alcohol-free lifestyle groups.
Cathy is passionate about yoga as a tool for mental and emotional empowerment. She teaches breathwork, meditation, and trauma-informed yoga to diverse groups ranging from teens to older adults, offering both individual and group-based sessions. Her approach emphasizes yoga as therapy, supporting clients in developing resilience, balance, and self-awareness.
In addition to her current work as a high school counselor and yoga coach for high school athletes, Cathy also serves as an adjunct professor in the department of Master of Education program at Ashland University. She has taught at local yoga studios and in online communities, always centering inclusivity and accessibility in her teaching.
Cathy’s mission is is to invite anyone interested in tools for wellness to join her—whether through classes, workshops, or one-on-one consulting. Her approach is grounded in the understanding that yoga is deeply personal and functional for each individual. She recognizes that we are all wired differently, and there is no single “right” way to practice yoga.
